Rainbow Bridge

To Ollie -
"Nature dealt her a dirty blow and made her a good mother. Fate cared even less about her and denied her a home. Man came to her rescue and saved her from death. Love gave her a chance and a new beginning.
She arrived at the Heart of the Catskills Humane Societytoo weak to walk but still valiantly caring for her eight offspring.

A man from Hobart spotted her near his home and observed her for a couple of days before taking steps to change the course of her life.
After gathering her and the puppies up, he took her to the shelter. She was so emaciated that the first name that came to mind was Olive Oyl after Popeye's painfully thin girlfriend.
She was about two years old, white with gold and brown spots and weighed only about thirty pounds.
Although she was starving, when bowls of food were put down, she stood back and let the puppies eat till they were satisfied before she ravenously chowed down.
Although things could not have been much worse for her she still loved and trusted humans. It was obvious that at some time in her short life she had been somebody's pet probably a housedog. A visitor to the shelter identified her as an English Red Tick Hound.
Yes, Ollie is one of those special dogs that smile when they find themselves in the company of compassionate humans. It may be a bit lopsided and a bit toothy, but it is an engaging grin.
In the three weeks since arriving at the shelter she has gained 30 pounds and now weighs 60 pounds.
Ollie's Story continued. I decided I needed this special dog in my life. She was with me for 12 years. On June 9th, 2001, after a long illness, my friend, teacher and part of my family, closed her eyes and her very gentle soul passed quietly into the long night rest and renew in the summerland. Romp free in the light dear friend. You were my favorite in this life and the next." - Love Grace
